New Tractor

We have been looking for a tractor for some time because the one we had previously had a major engine problem. On a trip to Alva, OK we decided to detour to the John Deere dealership to see what they had available and found this diesel tractor. It was priced as a package deal with the new tractor, loader, brush hog, box blade and trailer. The price was very reasonable so we bought it and brought it home.

Anytime you live on a farm, you have a number of chores that require the use of machinery to do it efficiently. Here I am spreading out rock that we had delivered. The drive had become very worn and rutted and we needed the rock to redo it. Trying to do this with only a shovel is not practicable.

Here Barbara is taking a few shovels of rock to place it at the edge of the concrete portion of the drive. She doesn't trust me with the tractor that much!

Ah, the joy of a new TOY!

While it is fun to play with the tractor now, it will be work in the future as we maintain the grounds. We will cut the weeds in the back area, remove old fence posts, remove small trees, etc. It is always nice to have a loader to do the heavy lifting that needs to be done around any farm.

One thing we do not want to use it for is the removal of SNOW!

I see the depiction of "a woman's way" and "a man's way" of doing the same job! Barb, you go girl! And where's your dust filtering mask? I see why you said "OK" to the the new toy!

Yep, Mike will be JEALOUS when he sees this. There are lots of uses for that on a farm and this one won't be broken down all the time and you won't live long enough to wear it out probably. Enjoy!
