Anthony, KS Car Show

Mother's Day weekend the Anthony, KS Car Show was held around the historic courthouse square.

This pickup truck was a real joy. The workmanship was outstanding. He said that everything was handcrafted. The doors were made out of hoods from other cars!

The turnout from around the area was very great. Many cars of all types.

This Falcon was just striking. The engine was done up very nice

If you look closely at the flames on this Ford you will see the serpents!

Sure, I'll be the first to try your new Peek-a-boos. Looks like they're working.

Jake loved these cars, especially the red Falcon and the Ford with sepent flames.

Well it looks like to me that we missed a great weekend to go to Anthony. There was lots to see going on. Who knew!

Thanks for the pictures.

Sunflower Balloon Fest

Mother's Day weekend is the time for the Sunflower Balloon Fest at the Anthony, KS Municipal Airport.

People from all around the country bring their balloons here for a festive weekend of ballooning adventure over the Kansas fields.

One of the men of Anthony has been an active ballooner for many years and he even builds and does certifications on them each year so they can be licensed to fly. His name is Herb Wilcox and he has made a balloon loft out of one of the old downtown buildings.
There were a couple of POW-MIA balloons in the mix. Very striking when you look closely at the eagle he has a tear in his left eye.

This was one of the most successfull launching weekends in several years as the winds cooperated!

Working class Mule!

We have been just working our new mule in more ways than we anticipated when we purchased it! Here is a picture of it removing Doug Perry's boat from the barn in preparation for the arrival of our Newell Coach which is still in Miami getting some work done. Doug stores things there when we are away and uses the barn for a mechanic shop. He feeds the cats and keeps a watch on the property which makes it a win win situation all around.

Notice that there is a new canopy and windshield on the mule. No one wants to ride out in the hot sun or with the rain coming in do they?

At any rate, it is a welcome addition to our set of tools around the farm!
